The left break is in front of you at the point and is pretty good, and there is a strong right break a few miles North. You won't be disappointed"

From the Airport
Drive north on Highway 200 (200 begins at the airport) past Zihuatanejo and up the hill towards Ixtapa. Follow the signs to Lazaro Cardenas – turn RIGHT at the top of the hill. Drive about one-half hour through some small villages. About 3 miles past the village of Buena Vista and around a bend you will see the LEFT turn for Troncones. Turn LEFT and follow it through Troncones pueblo to the beach. Turn RIGHT at the T-intersection and follow it for about 2 miles. The next road you come to will be a LEFT turn. You can’t miss the “Tahitian Village” type skyline. Go down the road until you come to the Troncones Point Surf Club on the right.

Car Rentals and Taxis
At the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo Airport you can either rent a car or take a taxi. There are numerous car rental agencies located within the airport terminal directly in front of the Customs clearance door. It’s best to book a rental car in advance through Alamo, Avis, Hertz or Budget. Note: If you don’t plan on renting an SUV, it’s best to bring along some portable surf racks for the economy cars.

Taxis are also available in all shapes and sizes depending upon your luggage. There are two ways to get a taxi. First, you can go to the taxi co-op booth in the terminal and get a taxi at the co-op price for about 450 pesos (about $45.00 US) or you can go outside the terminal and try to negotiate a cheaper rate directly with a taxi driver. Some of the drivers speak English and can be negotiated with ease depending on the season. All taxi drivers know how to get to Troncones. But, if you choose to drive yourself, Troncones is easy to get to. See the map for directions.

Note: When you are driving through the villages watch out for Topes – Spanish for “Speed Bumps”- pronounced “toe pays”. Some Topes can be pretty vicious, so take care and be on the watch for pedestrians and animals.
